Abstract
This study aims to describe the implementation of the inquiry learning method in Indonesian language learning on traffic signs material in elementary school. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach conducted in class II of MIS Mutiara Aulia, involving 26 students and one teacher. Data were collected through non-participant observation, unstructured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the inquiry method was implemented through several stages, including stimulating students with examples of traffic signs, guiding them to observe and identify meanings, and encouraging them to present their findings. Students actively participated by drawing and explaining traffic signs based on their prior knowledge and real-life experiences. The teacher played a significant role in facilitating, guiding, and managing the classroom to maintain an effective learning environment. The implementation of the inquiry method enhanced students’ engagement, critical thinking, and understanding of traffic signs. Learning became more interactive and meaningful as students constructed knowledge through exploration rather than memorization. Therefore, the inquiry method is considered effective in improving students’ learning experiences in Indonesian language instruction at the elementary level.
